Names….

So, I’m currently sitting in the library trying to do work. I have been doing homework and filling out applications for the past 2 hours and I physically can’t concentrate anymore so I decided now was just as good time as any to tumblr post today. (Look how good I am - posting everyday).

Anyways, I kinda just want to talk about how lovely people’s names are and even more lovely it is when people address others with them. I absolutely love when people address me as “Michelle” even when we are great friends and have been talking for a half an hour.

Now, I’m not saying that people call me by something else other than my name but I am saying that I think people today don’t really call people anything when they are talking to them. There is never a pause to say “…And you know what, Michelle, this happened…” or “Have you ever heard of this movie, Michelle?” I’ve just seemed to notice that people really do not address the people they are talking to by name anymore.

If you know me, I am sure you are aware that every time I see you, I will always say your name and use your name several times throughout our conversation together. I don’t do this to prove a point, I actually just address people by their name naturally and its just recently that I noticed that people don’t really reciprocate.

Well, let me just tell the 7 people who will actually read this, that I adore hearing someone actually use my name in conversation when they are talking to me. It makes me feel special, appreciated, and simply happy. So, if you can try to remember to just let someone hear their name out loud in conversation, I think you will really brighten up their day. Maybe not many people have thought about it too much but I guarantee that everyone would love it if you did.

It’s polite and makes everything more personal. And in such a cut throat society full of politics, I think its nice to add that little bit of special into someone’s day - a little bit of manners, a little bit of appreciation, just by using someone’s name. = )
